Specialization

Dr. Ward has a special interest in working with athletes because he is an athlete himself. It is for this reason that he understands the demands an athlete puts on his or her body and their need for special attention. Dr. Ward has competed at the national level as a Triathlete completing 2 full Ironman races. He earned an invite in 2017 to compete at the US national championship at the Olympic distance triathlon. He also coaches Crossfit and has earned his level 2 certification.

Accomplishments

Dr. Ward has been noted in the who’s who of Northern Virginia in 2008 and 2012 for his practices with the Washington Redskins, the Washington Wizards and the USA female rugby team. Dr. Ward appeared as a guest on Channel 9’s “A New Me” to discuss conditions chiropractors typically treat and specific aspects of what “Functional Rehab” is and how it is applied in today’s rehabilitation clinics. Dr. Ward has attained his certification in Dry Needling, Active Release Therapy, Graston Technique and Pulse Electromagnetic Therapy.

Dr. Ward is an accomplished Lecturer who has spoken on a number of various topics at many private and community events.

Jeannie Koulizakis, MSPT

Jeannie Koulizakis, MSPTEugenia Koulizakis, PT, MPT, graduated from Purdue University in Indiana in 1993 with a Bachelors of Arts degree, then from Nova Southeastern University in 2000 with a Masters in Physical Therapy. Her practice began in Chicago, Illinois where her practice focused primarily on orthopedic and neurological work related injuries, both chronic and acute. In addition, she has extensive experience working with runners, particularly marathonians and triathletes, and their common injuries, including ankle instability, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis/tears, chronic shin splints, iliotibial band (ITB) syndrome, knee pain, groin strains, chronic hamstring tightness, chronic psoas tightness, pelvic floor dysfunction, hip and back pain.

Specializations
Ms. Koulizakis is certified in performing FCE’s (Functional Capacity Evaluations). She is also certified in mat Pilates for Rehabilitation Specialists. She specializes in core neurological re-education for the purpose of teaching her patients healthy posture, both static and dynamic. She also has extensive continuing education on home and office work area ergonomics and can make effective, game changing modifications to correct the ergonomics of your workspace to sustain, not work against, the gains you will make while in treatment at Cross Functional Rehabilitation Specialists.

Ms. Koulizakis is licensed to practice physical therapy in Virginia, Florida and Illinois. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Virginia Physical Therapy Association, and the Education Section of the APTA.
